   Dr. Ernst is an American Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and has been in private practice in Montville, NJ since 1987.  He obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dental Medicine in 1981.  He then went on to complete 5 years of post graduate education starting with a first year Dental General Practice internship at St. Joseph's Medical Center followed by 3 years of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training at Woodhull Medical Center.  This was then followed by a 5th year of advanced fellowship training at the Staten Island University Hospital and Woodhull Medical Center  where he oversaw and participated in the treatment of the most complex cases.  After completion of his hospital training, Dr. Ernst passed a rigorous test in which he earned his Board Certification in 1989.  Presently Dr. Ernst is an attending surgeon at St. Clare's Medical Center and Dover General Hospital, and a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

     Dr. Ernst has extensive experience in all areas of his specialty including in-office intravenous conscious sedation, treatment of facial deformities, traumatic injuries to the teeth and jaws, diagnosis and treatment of jaw tumors, oral cancer diagnosis, painless removal of wisdom teeth and management of serious facial infections.
